AXTONE Group – leader in draw and buffer gears supply for passenger and freight cars, locomotives and urban public transport vehicles - has completed the first delivery of Crash type elements for Bombardier plant in Crespin (France) within REGIO2N project. The end customer being the national French railway – SNCF. It is another stage of international cooperation of AXTONE Group with one of the global leaders of railway technology and over 30th. order completed by the Group for Bombardier during the last 3 years.
Between May 2010 and August 2011 AXTONE Group has been working on an innovative design of two Crash type elements. The new solutions are dedicated for passenger trains forming a part of the French SNCF rolling stock. Successful international audits and crash tests of the REGIO2N cabin - equipped with Crash elements manufactured by AXTONE enable installing the equipment ordered by Bombardier as early as in August 2011on Regio2N Trains. REGIO2N is one of the largest ongoing projects in Europe - the production of the first batch of 129 trains is scheduled till mid 2016, whereas the entire project assumes out of 860 through future options.
"The order we are completing for the French SNCF railway within the contract with Bombardier goes according to the assumed work schedule. We successfully completed not only the concept and design stage but also passed all crash tests and necessary audits. That is why we were able to begin deliveries of Crash elements to the French operator on time. We are convinced that the innovative and reliable solutions offered by AXTONE Group will improve safety of passenger railway transport provided by SNCF”, said Marcin Kowalczyk, President of AXTONE Group Management Board.
The main function of Crash type elements is to increase railway transport safety both as far as freight and passenger transport is concerned. Technical parameters of equipment manufactured by AXTONE makes them capable of absorbing large amounts of crash energy, which is a significant construction advantage over other market solutions. Moreover, AXTONE Group - as the leader of Crash type systems - offers the widest range of crash energy absorbing solutions in all types of rail vehicles and has a specialized R&D Department, equipped with appropriate tools and instruments to design custom tailored solutions.
Crash type buffers manufactured by AXTONE – due to high technological parameters – meet the requirements of RID regulations (regulations for international rail transport of dangerous goods) and UIC 573 (International Railway Association). AXTONE products also comply with the requirements of EN 15227, imposing the use of Crash elements in all types of passenger vehicles and locomotives. Moreover, AXTONE Group passed over 80 real Crash tests during the last 3 years, which confirms high quality and reliability of the offered modules, allowing for their failure-free operation for many years.
