AXTONE at the Conference “New generation of automatic classification system of freight cars – experience from Poznań Franowo classification yard”.

AXTONE Sp. z o.o. – dominant supplier of draw-gears and buffers as well as solutions for railroad freight and passenger sectors, locomotives and urban transport vehicles – recently participated in the conference “New generation of automatic classification system of freight cars – experience from Poznań Franowo classification yard” held on 12th and 13th of May 2011. The conference was organised by the Polish Association of Engineers and Technicians of Transportation (SITK RP) Poznań Department.

At the conference AXTONE and TENS presented a jointly developed solution for a speed control system for classification yards (SARPO). It is one the most modern systems of a new generation for an operationally efficient and economical sorting of freight cars while minimising the risks for people injuries, vehicle and goods damages and  environment pollution. The role of the SARPO system is to control the speed of freely rolling cars or rake of cars propelled by gravity in case of a hump-yard or by inertia in case of a flat-yard with the use of a system of distributed (intermittent) retarders along the classification tracks in the bowl of the yard, thus guaranteeing the correct “targeting speed and distance” of every sorted car or rake of cars. It can also be used at sidings or industrial tracks for an accurate positioning of freight cars at a determined place. The presentation appeared to become a popular subject among the invited guests, therefore encouraging them to participate actively in the afterwards following discussion.
